ORD – DFW
Having Frontier miles makes it easy to book our flights with this airline although some would not prefer it, but it does come with some disadvantages; ie: having to pick a connecting flight through Houston for the sake of it being free even though it doesn’t necessarily make sense when you are going to Dallas.
We boarded our early morning flight without issue, got off in Houston and boarded our next flight to Dallas. We finally made it to our final destination and after picking up our rental car we were on our way.
First stop, Six Flags Over Texas.
We had a great day exploring the park and fortunately didn’t have much wait time for any of the rides. Clara wasn’t tall enough for some of the rides she wanted to go on, but she was a real trooper and we went along.
Once we finished at the park, we made a pit stop to visit the Dude Perfect HQ and although the facility was closed and we didn’t run into any Dudes, it was pretty cool to see where some of the magic happens.
From there we stopped at Ford Field to take some pictures and see where the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders film their Netflix series.
After some of our sightseeing, we headed over to my cousin’s house where she graciously hosted us for a few days before we took off on the 4 hour road trip to San Antonio. The drive itself was pretty uneventful, but my husband really wanted to see the Tesla factory so we made a pit stop, saw a ton of Cyber Trucks and did a quick photo op.
Once we got to our hotel, Drury Inn & Suites, we settled in and began to take in some of the beauty since the location was perfectly situated right on the Riverwalk. We immediately decided to go for a stroll and take in some of the beauty it offers. We walked over to the Alamo and grabbed a bite to eat. Of course the kids ‘Gotta Catch Em All’ Pokemon hunted along the way too.
The next day, we visited Six Flags Santa Fe and it has been our absolute favorite park ever since. Riding on Dr Diabolical was indeed a highlight since we have never been on a drop coaster like that before.
Finishing our time at the park and San Antonio in general, we drove back to my cousin’s and got to enjoy some time on the water in her boat to end our trip with some fun and relaxation. The kids were especially thrilled because they got to ride the waves on a boogie board.
DFW – ORD
We did have a hiccup at the end of our trip when Frontier cancelled our return flight the next day with no real explanation why so we had to stay an extra night, but that’s the joy of having family living there since she took us in for one more night.
Overall, the trip was amazing as usual and we highly recommend visiting San Antonio.
